Course Overview
In this course, we will broadly study big-data management frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark. The course will also cover relational and non-relational databases, as well as cloud data management solutions. We will study the trade-offs of these platforms and show applications of their usage.
Grading
Class Participation/Quizzes: 25%
Assignments: 25%
Midterm 1: 25%
Midterm 2: 25%
The worst two quizzes will be dropped.
The midterms will be open book exams. They will be 80 minutes in length, and will include a combination of quantitative and essay-type questions.
For assignments, there is 20% penalty for late submission.
